Resumen

The authors of contemporaneous management, in any topic they work or approach they use, are unanimousin mentioning the organizational culture as a determinant element to the organizational actions and emphasize it as animpelling or restrictive factor to its competence and competitiveness performance nowadays. However, as it is a complexphenomenon, it is noticed in the pertinent literature that the attempt to conceptualize “organizational culture” has takenmost of the authors to compile a great amount of exhaustive synonyms in their eagerness to contemplate its amplitudewithout developing clear theoretical constructs, leaving aside redundancy, reductionism, or even the lack of discernmentamong other determinant elements. Based on a bibliographical research, this article aims at developing a theoreticalreflection through the articulation between organizational culture and human behavior in the organizations as a contributionto its conceptual understanding which enables a better understanding and management of this phenomenon. This articleis an updated version of the one published in the magazine Informação e Sociedade - in the section Memorias CientíficasOriginais, 2005, once later studies showed the existence of a dimension which was considered essential to the explanationof human behavior and consequently, to organizational culture.
