BENCHMARKING OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS IN BRAZIL: PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS TO ESCOLA DE SERVIÇO PÚBLICO DO ESTADO DA PARAÍBA - ESPEP

Resumen

The survival of organizations in the current market is increasingly dependent on the ability they have to follow the environmental changes. The search for processes improvement and best management practices can produce unquestionable competitive results, even in public organizations. In this sense, there is the Benchmarking characterized as a continuous analysis process of best practices and best methods that will result in a superior performance. The present study aimed to apply the benchmarking in government schools in Brazil with the intent of improving the practices of the Escola de Serviço Público da Paraíba - ESPEP. This article, of applied and descriptive nature, follows with the survey of data based on government schools in Brazil and makes use of literature research in journals, periodicals, articles and the schoolsâ own websites from 22 Brazilian states, besides the Escola Nacional de Educação Pública - ENAP. The data analysis collected from best practices from government schools was made based on the following aspects: courses offered, teaching modalities, interactivity, and initiatives, programs and actions. The results were presented as proposals of improvement (action plans) for each one of the aspects, resulting in a complete plan of improvement for the ESPEP.
