This paper presents a bibliographical review about vehicle and crew scheduling problem which is applicable in the optimization of public transportation systems. The traditional sequential approaches are presented. The most relevant mathematical models for the integrated approach are exposed. Finally, resolution approaches for the integrated problem, based on heuristics, branch-and-bound, lagrangean relaxation, columns generation and meta-heuristics are presented.
