The technological development in the area of informatics and telecoms has arised new concepts of economy and product, besides new patterns of organization to the companies dealing in this market. This work aims to assess the applicability of Product Development Management (PDM) and Production Management (PM) methods to digital products, and examines some particularities of the application in this field. Quality Function Deployment (QFD) and Production Planning and Control (PPC), applied in two different types of digital goods, in the same company of the Mobile Telecoms segment, are underlined through the study. The results of the work are based in two projects developed under the strategy of action research in a Brazilian company of mobile telecoms. In the studied cases, it has been possible to distinguish, eventually, the phases of the process in which it was adequate to use the PDM approach, using QFD, and the PM approach. Based on the research results, we present also some similarities and differences between the application of these methods in the studied projects and the traditional application, found in literature.
