Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the process of production of abrasive crowns through computer simulation and combinatorial optimization, evaluating statistically the number of operators in the process, production flow, among other variables needed to assess the dynamics of the system and operational rules. The analysis of these variables aimed to assist decision- making necessary for the implementation of the ABRASDI, which will be the first plant with technology totally Brazilian for production of diamond tools. Its implementation is aimed to meet the high demand for the input that exists in Brazil, especially in the North Fluminense, where the company will be installed. The simulation model allowed evaluating different, complex scenarios of the process of manufacturing of abrasive crowns, allowing identifying problems and opportunities for improvement before the start of production lines. The use of statistical analysis directed the experimental design to decisive factors, which generated results that allowed estimating the productive capacity of the company and identifying the scenarios considered ideal, showing at what time it is advantageous to purchase machinery or hiring. In turn, the optimization allowed finding minimum settings of resources in relation to the company's initial demand, reducing potential expenses resources that could be underutilized.
