DIAGNOSIS AND PROPOSITIONS FOR IMPROVEMENTS ON CONTRACT MANAGEMENT OF A TRANSPORTATION COMPAN

Abstract

The process management has provided to companies in general a better operational performance. This paper aims to improve the process of Contract Management in a transportation company. Using the method of action research, this paper elaborates a diagnosis of the actual situation of Contract Management process, a prioritization of problems, a survey of best practices recommended for contract management and an action plan for improvements. The results show the lack of procedures, policies and guidelines as major problems this company contract management. Among the best practices with the greatest impact to improve of the process were identified (i) to set / adjust policies, procedures and guidelines, (ii) reassess and readjust the contracts flow and (iii) train managers and the people involved. These results, as well as the action plan for implementing prioritized best practices, represent an opportunity to improve the companyâs contract management process.
