Abstract

The ability to generate, process and transmit information is the first step of a production process that finishes by its application in the process of value aggregation to products and services. However, in order to provide access to the necessary information for organizations investments in technology are not enough: they must invest in the information infrastructure. In this context, the Information Systems planning should ensure that investments in Information Systems are aligned with the organizational strategy. This article presents the results of the application of the Business System Planning methodology to the Information System planning of the administrative and financial area of the Transit Department of the Alagoas State. The choice of the BSP methodology was motivated by its emphasis on business processes and it provided the identification of the strategic vision of the organization, the business processes of the administrative and financial area and the groups of information necessary to procedures. Additionally, through the use of a prioritization software it was possible to establish groups of information services modules to be developed in a first horizon.
