Throughout their evolution, human beings have gone from an inhabiting organism to environmental modifying actors, marking their existence on planet Earth through the concept of Anthropocene. Their adaptation to the difficulties imposed by natural ecosystems forced them to create technologies that would allow their perpetuation. Initially, the idea of infinite resources and unlimited resilience of the environment was considered. Today, however, due to the development of new technologies and the calibration of new research methods, it becomes common sense in science that the simple presence of human beings, their consumption and the residues generated by them are irreversibly changing the environment in which we live. A clear example of the evolution of impacts on planet Earth is the emergence of new themes, such as the diffusion of garbage across the oceans, the discovery of new pollutants as endocrine and microplastic disrupters and how they affect the various links in the trophic network, in addition to the growing dissemination of new endemics across the globe.

Within this context, the electronic magazine "SISTEMAS E GESTÃO (S&G)" goes through a process of reformulation resulting from the growing demand for data that can provide the means of researching information that will help understand the transition that planet Earth is going through. At the same time, not abandoning issues related to management methods in the various areas traditionally addressed by the magazine, it reinforces the focus on governance measures in order to stimulate the practical nature of the information published. Thus, the aim is to reduce the distance between the science produced by the academic environment and its applicability in the development of innovative solutions that contribute to a more balanced coexistence between the human being and the environment. Following this new perspective, this journal formally adopts the abbreviation S&G JOURNAL in order to stimulate the process of internationalization and projection of the journal.

We invite the entire global scientific community to contribute relevant information on the various topics concerning the natural environment, sustainability and positive measures that can be spread to other regions.
